Connecting @ complacency!

Rs.145.7 billion – that’s what the $101.5 billion Finnish giant Nokia garnered as annual revenues in 2006. Now hold on! It’s just the Indian market we’re referring to, here! And it should come as no surprise to the initiated, for the magnificent figure only speaks out for years of Nokia’s domination in India; which it truly values, as Soren Petersen, Senior VP-Mobile Phones, Nokia feels, “India is one of the fastest growing markets & is very important to Nokia, and the global mobile communications industry as a whole.”

Call it the highly envied ‘first mover advantage’ or simply an understanding of the Indian consumer behaviour. Call it what you want, but one fact stands out for sure – aft er more than half-a-decade of fun & frolic on the Indian sub-continent, we also have, of late, stood witness to ominous signs of danger lurking at close quarters... all thanks to the growth of competitors like Motorola & Sony Ericsson, amongst many others.
