After starting its venture with a single steel plant at Hissar in Haryana in 1970, the O. P. Jindal group has grown manifolds. Though the group is continuously spreading itself, the mentor of the group, O. P. Jindal, remained strictly focused on a single vertical – steel. The performance of various group companies has been terrific over the past few years. While the turnover of Jindal Saw has grown almost three times to Rs.23 billion in FY 2006 from Rs.8 billion in FY 2004, Jindal Steel & Power has almost doubled to Rs.28.7 billion in FY 2006 from Rs.15.5 billion in FY 2004.
